Province announces details of Rent Assist Program

Plan to End Homelessness in Winnipeg released

Winnipeg’s Community Task Force to End Homelessness has released The Plan To End Homelessness in Winnipeg.  One of the focus areas of the plan is to increase the supply and availability of housing to combat Winnipeg’s low vacancy rate, including the ultimate creation of 7500 affordable housing units.

Spring 2014 Rental Market Report released

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has released its April 2014 Rental Market Report.  Click here to see Manitoba Highlights.  The Winnipeg Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) recorded an apartment vacancy rate of 2 per cent in April 2014 compared to 1.9 per cent in the previous year.

CCPA Manitoba releases Alternative Municipal Budget

The Manitoba Office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives launched its Alternative Municipal Budget Winnipeg 2014 on April 29th at the Winnipeg Public Library. 2014 is an election year in Winnipeg and this Alternative Municipal Budget is meant to stimulate discussion around some of the important concerns facing our city including affordable housing.
